DRESS

CODE

Students are required to follow a dress code to participate in PE.  Failure to adhere to the dress code will result in students not participating in PE or a limited amount of participation.

- Students must wear tennis shoes with laces or Velcro.

- Sandals, flip flops, crocks, boots, and sperry's are NOT acceptable.

- Girls are allowed to wear skirts, but they must have a pair of shorts on underneath.

- Students should not bring any type of electronic to PE. Please leave all phones and tablets in the classroom.

October 4th - 11th:

Fitness Stations and Flexibility Test

 

September 24th - 30th

Pacer Test/Heart and Lungs

Students will practice and take the Pacer Test (Cardiovascular Endurance)

September 16th - 23rd:

Cardiovascular Endurance and your Heart

Students will learn about Endurance and about their heart.

September 7th - 14th:

Height and Weight

Students will learn about their height and weight. They will also learn how to eat healthy and exercises to maintain a healthy body weight.

August 30th - September 3rd:

Pathways, Fleeing and Chasing

Students will learn about different pathways (Zig Zag, Curved, Streight) through a series of Tag Games.

August 22nd - 27th:

Locomotor VS Non Locomotor Movements

Students will learn about Locomotor (Skipping, Hopping Galloping) and Non-Locomotor Movements (Bending, Twisting, Turning) through a series og activities and games.

August 16th - 19th:

Emergency Procedures and Cardio Activities

Student will learn what to do in an emergency if they are in PE. (Fire, Tornado, Lock Down)

August 9th - 13th:

Rules and Procedures

Students will learn about rules and procedures

IMAGINATION

PLAYGROUND

Thanks to PTA the students have the opportunity to use the Imagination Playground.  May Howard is one of two schools within the SCCPSS with this amazing equipment.

​

Students are currently using the Imagination Playground on Wednesdays during EP.

FITNESS

GRAM

1st - 5th Grade Students are required to complete the Physical Fitness Assessment.

​

1st - 3rd Grade only have their High and Weight Measured.

​

4th and 5th Grade participate in 4 physical fitness test.

​

Pacer Test: To measure the Cardio Vascular Endurance.

​

Curl- Up Test: To measure Muscular Strength and Endurance.

​

Push-Up Test: To measure Muscular Strength and Endurance.

​

Sit & Reach Test: To measure Flexibility.

September 24th - October 1st

Pacer Test for 4th and 5th Grade students.  2nd - 3rd grade practice this test.

September 16th - 23rd

Students will learn their Height and Weight. They are told this is personal information and they do not have to share it with anyone.

EXTENDED

PLANNING

During Extended Planning the student will come to the gym to participate in cooperative activities designed to teach the students to work together to accomplish a specific goal.  Many of the activities will also include Eureka Math and Balance Literacy. This year students will use the Imagination Playground and the Rock Wall.
